ALBUM RELEASE: Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) - Wailing and Madness (نواح و جنون)
March 9, 2026Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) - meaning "manhole" in Arabic - is a one man project from Tunisia founded by Gh'ramm in 2024.
Eschewing the common western scales typical in Black Metal in favour of Arabic scales, motifs, and instrumentation, Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) succeeds in crafting a black metal record that is genuine and authentic, a mosaic of a traditional western genre with an uncompromising Arabic influence. Abrasive guitars form the underbelly of Gomma's music but rather than utilizing tremolo-picked melodies in standard western scales, the melodic aspect is instead carried by maqam modes, blending black metal with Arabic folk music.
"Wailing and Madness" is Gomma's second full-length album, released independently in November 2025 and now distributed through Hypnotic Dirge Records in collaboration with Black Metal Artists
